TenEyck
June 5, 1973
Page 2

Enclosed are six copies' of a few tables and graphs which I have used in giving
brief talks about our work. Without the verbal continuity, I'm afraid they
don't mean much, but they illustrate the kinds of data which we use as input
(e.g. total gross output levels and acreages in the basin for 1960 and 1970), the
types of economic projections that are made (output levels for 1980), and the
analysis of hypothetical changes which might be brought about .through particular
policies -- in this case a reduction in agricultural acreages' to determine what
the total regional saving in water use and salt loading would be.

It had been our intention to study in depth the implications of (1) shale
oil development, (2) coal strip mining, (3) coal gasification, (4) numerous changes
in agricultural land uses and water efficiencies (5) trade-offs between recreational
and other types of development We are almost assured of at least partial funding of
this or similar work through the National Science Foundation if we can develop
ties with state and/or federal agencies which will assist in the formulation of
further work and be in a position to use the study output.

Bud Udis and I would be happy to present an informal seminar to you and those
you feel might have an interest for the purpose of describing these models and
their capabilities in greater detail. This can be at your convenience, though
from our viewpoint, the sooner the better. I will be available through June 19th
and then again July 11, 12, and 13th. Hopefully some one of those dates will fit
the convenience of your group.

We very much look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely yours,

~ /J L j ~-rt..
~- t.
Charles W.
