I

I

approximately 13,000 acres and will have a rated capacity of 206 ft3/s.

The total dynamic head will be 130 feet. The plant will have four pumps

each with a rated capacity of 51.5 ft3/s. The discharge from the pumps

will be merged by a manifold into a 72-inch-diameter discharge line. This

relift plant will serve Southeast Choteau Relift Pumping Plant No. 2 and

Southeast Choteau Canal No.2.

I

I

I

Southeast Choteau Canal No. 2 will begin at the discharge line from

Southeast Choteau Relift Pumping Plant No.1. The canal will be about

1 mile long, have a capacity of 60 ft3/s, and serve about 3,913.3 acres.

I

I

Southeast Choteau Relift Pumping Plant No. 2 will serve about 4,434 acres

and have a rated capacity of 72 ft3/s and a total dynamic head of 149 feet.

The plant will have three pumps each having a rated capacity of 24 ft3/s.

The discharge from the pumps will be merged by a manifold into a

42-inch-diameter discharge line.

I

I
I
I

Northeast Choteau Area

I

The Northeast Choteau Canal (which branches from the North Branch Canal

about 1.5 miles south of the North Branch Relift Pumping Plant) will have a

capacity of 90 ft3/s and serve 5,800 acres. The canal will be 3.0 miles

long and terminate at the Northeast Choteau Relift Pumping Plant. The

Northeast Choteau Relift Pumping Plant will have a rated capacity of

34 ft3/s and a total dynamic head of 99 feet. The plant will have two

pumps and serve 2,200 acres. The discharge line from the plant will vary

in diameter from 30 to 18 inches. An air chamber is included in the

estimate for surge control if it proves necessary.

I
I

I

Distribution System

I
I

The distribution system in the area northwest of Lake Andes was estimated

separately from the rest of the project area. Of the rema1n1ng acres of

the project, three samples were laid out and estimated to obtain a per-acre

cost. The sample area acreages were 2,290, 2,900, and 1,925 acres. The

project lands will be served by a system of laterals having an approximate

I

I

39
