OBJECTIVE:

Inventory basi n resources, detenni ne exi sti ng and potenti al
water uses, and evaluate opportunities for watershed
protecti on, flood preventi on, and water resource
development.

SIGNIFICANT FINDINGS:

o Annual preci pi tati on vari es from 9" to over 30".

o Land ownership: Federal - 77%; Private - 21%; State - 2%.

o Crop production uses less than 3% of land resource.

o 1960 basin population = 5560.
o Projected population (based on coal and oil shale development):

1980 - 20,000
2000 - 186,000
2020 - 204,000

o Average acreage irrigated (1943-60) = 35,200 acres.

o Water depletion = 38,400 acre-feet annually.
o Basin discharge at state line = 487,000 acre-feet.
