Each category contains <br />a variable number of specific tasks or studies and includes both <br />ongoing and new studies. Research categories for Fiscal Year 1992 <br />include; <br /> <br />, <br />1) Adult monitoring/Radio Telemetry (abundance, distribution <br />and habitat use and needs), <br /> <br />2) Early life history research (abundance, distribution and <br />habitat use and needs), <br /> <br />3) Secondary channel ichthyofaunal characterization <br /> <br />4) Augmentation studies, <br /> <br />5) Ichthyofaunal surveys of tributary streams, <br /> <br />6) Navajo Dam tailwater fisheries studies, <br /> <br />7) Water quality/Contaminants review <br />8) Non-native fish research, and <br /> <br />9) <br /> <br />Habitat/flow relationships <br /> <br />Research tasks <br />are presented <br />protocols for <br />Attachment A. <br /> <br />or studies within each category proposed for FY 1992 <br />in the follow~ng section. Detailed research <br />each of the n~ne categories are delineated in <br />Budgets for each agency are given in Attachment B. <br /> <br />CATEGORY - ADULT MONITORING/RADIO TELEMETRY <br /> <br />Status: <br /> <br />Ongoing Core Research Program <br /> <br />Lead Agencies: U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service - (responsible for <br />work in San Juan River from Shiprock to Mexican <br />Hat) <br /> <br />Bureau of Reclamation - (responsible for extreme <br />upper end of San Juan arm of Lake Powell up to <br />Slickhorn rapid) <br /> <br />Tasks: <br /> <br />-Adult sampling trips in San Juan River for <br />collection of distribution and abundance data, <br />habitat information and tissue for genetic <br />assessment of stocks of endangered fish. <br />-Radio implants of adult Colorado squawfish. and <br />razorback suckers <br />-Monitoring of radio-tagged fish with assistance <br /> <br />9 <br />
