'<:"
l'-
-'

industrial water supply. The 39,000 acre-feet of industrial water is
routed through the hydroelectric powerplant.

Ac.ter:1"tive 1 - This is the base plan developed to meet OMB's request
cxc2:pt tlie l:ydraulic turbine and pump have been moved upstream, as
suggested by Conservancy Board Members during the July 19, 1973 meeting.
Water is lifted to Wright's Mesa at a higher elevation than in the
original base plan. A maximum of 570 cfs is diverted into a 102 inch
diameter pipeline just below the mouth of Beaver Creek and supplies head
to the hydraulic turbine. Water is pumped to Wright's Mesa and conveyed
by Wright's Mesa Canal to an elevation higher than the Norwood Tunnel
outlet of the Feasibility Plan, which facilitates the water exchange with
Cone and Gurley Reservoirs in expanding and supplementing irrigation in
the Norwood-Redvale area. Maverick Draw Dam and Reservoir is used to
provide carryover storage.

Alternative 2 - Expansion of the base hydraulic pumping plan in Alternative
1 is made by the addition of storage on the San Miguel River. In this plan
Saltado Dam and Reservoir at a total capacity of 18,000 acre-feet is used.
(Telluride and Sunshine Damsites were considered but geological investiga-
tions have shown both sites to be infeasible.) Industrial water in the
amount of 39,000 acre-feet per year is provided for downstream coal
development from Saltado Reservoir.

~
"

,
