<br />To provide appropriate protection to selected river reaches and <br />water-related areas of historic, scientific, and cultural value by designation <br />of protected rivers. <br /> <br />NORTH D1II<OTA <br />The State's objective ia to preserve natural, historic, and cultural <br /> <br />resources. The State's review process for water developments provides the <br /> <br />necessary coordination for the preservation of these resources. <br /> <br />SOUTH DAKOTA <br />South Dakota shall maintain key or unique natural systems on a perpetual <br /> <br /> <br />basis. Water resources in a few key places should be managed so as to continue <br /> <br /> <br />the existence of indigenous plant and animal communities. Examples of natural <br /> <br /> <br />areas and their ecosystems should be left in some areas of the State for the <br /> <br /> <br />benefit of future populations. <br /> <br /> <br />The policy of the State shall be to recognize that water in lakea for <br /> <br /> <br />recreational and esthetic purposes is in the public interest. <br /> <br /> <br />A system of wild, scenic, and recreational rivers shall be implemented in <br /> <br /> <br />accordance with South Dakota compiled laws 46-l7A-14. <br /> <br /> <br />WYOMIN~ <br /> <br /> <br />Proper consideration must be given to natural, historic, and cultural <br /> <br /> <br />resources in all water and related resources planning functions in order to <br /> <br /> <br />assure that these features will continue to be available for future <br /> <br /> <br />generations. The value of natural, historic, and cultural resources in <br /> <br /> <br />relation to current society are acknowledged as a significant contribution to <br /> <br /> <br />the standard of living. Inventories are being made for the identification and <br /> <br /> <br />classification of this category of resources. <br /> <br />G-34 <br />
