<br />-15- <br /> <br />V. RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> <br />To mitiqate the potential losses to water users resultinq from the <br />nroflosed nroJect, it is recol11l'1ended that: <br /> <br />1. The proposed project be operated in coordi nati on ltith a 11 <br />other Federally-funded water resource proiects in the <br />Colorado River Basin to neet State/Federal water quality <br />standards. <br /> <br />2. Salinity control features be included as a part of the <br />nroposed project to mi ti qate the expected adverse effects <br />of the project on ~Iater quality and water uses. Such <br />ni tioation features should be included in the proiect <br />authori zation 1eqis1ation and provide for installation and <br />operation of sa1ini ty control measures in the project area <br />or any other area in the Colorado River Basin I~here they <br />are found to be effective and efficient. Potential measures <br />include sea1inq of saline \~ells and sprinCls, interception <br />and transport of hinhly saline waters to imnervious evapor- <br />ation ponds, vegetati on manarTement, improvements i n ~Iater <br />conveyance and irri(!ation techniques, and demineralization. <br /> <br />3. Provisions be included in construction specifications to <br />assure that apnro!')riate steps are taken by the contractor <br />duri no cons tructi on to. protect the I]ua 1 i tv of :/es t r.1uddy. <br />Currant Creeks; and other streams affected by the Project. <br /> <br />4. The future vlastes associ ated vtith recreational activities <br />on the Grand t1esa ilnd at the proposed Electric nountain <br />ilnd Cactus Park Reservoirs be adequately treated in systems <br />that \~ill not discharqe effluent to the lakes and reservoirs. <br />
