<br />Presently, wi Idl ife mitigation is keeping pace with habitat

<br />losses.
<br />
<br />Indications are that this trend may not continue in the

<br />future as we are now planning with landowners who have lower
<br />
<br />priority points - not wishing to install mitigation practices.

<br />I. CONCLUSION

<br />To maintain our current level of mitigation, adequate staff
<br />
<br />time to plan and sel I wi Idl ife practices and management must be
<br />
<br />maintained.
<br />
<br />This is becoming more difficult as the monitoring,
<br />
<br />tracking, planning and follow-up workload Increases.
<br />
<br />Establ ishing
<br />
<br />a permanent full-time technician position to assist with
<br />
<br />monitoring, data collection, cover type maps, HSI calculations and
<br />
<br />the Tracking System wi I I greater ease this workload on the staff
<br />
<br />and help ensure high levels of mitigation.
