36

1

Mr. Charles Christopher of Gunnison Country Trout

2 unlimited.

3

MR. CHRISTOPHER: 14y name is Chuck Christopher. I'm

4 vice-president of the Gunnison County chapter of Trout Unliroi

S Gunnison Country, excuse me. I have just a few things I woul

6 like to say. Some of them have been said already by Hary

7 Ellen Cuthbertson, and I will not hore you with reiterating

8 on those things. I would like to say, though, that I greatly

9 regret the 108s of any kind of a fiShery anyplace where it is,

10 and I'm one of those crazy people who like to have a fly rod

II in his hand occasionally. I do regret the loss of fiShing in

12 Soap Creek. ,In Section C of the DES there is a considerable

13 amount of admission by BuRee that we will lose the fishery.

14 There will be low water levels in Soap Creek, Curecanti Creek

15 and Crystal Creek due to the development of the various
16
the dam,Goodwin dam. And also th~ holding. reservoirs on
11
Crystal and Curecanti Creeks. I do think it kind of strange

wel I

18

that the Bureau of Reclamation would say that there would be

an increase fishery in the area. They do say that there woul

be a considerably greater nwnber of people using the fishery

in the area because of increased access, although they do say

also that th&fishery would be reduced. The irony of that is

almost overwheJ.nling. AlSO, I do believe that the Goodwin Lake

19

20

21

22

23

24

will pot support any kind of a fishery with an annual fluctua 'on
25
level of fifty feet or more, even if fish w~re able to survive
