<br />a <br />c' <br /> <br />N <br />~ <br />~ <br />QJ <br /> <br />'1::"1 <br /> <br />PREFACE <br /> <br />All Federal agencies and all States represented on the <br />AiiRBIA Committee participated in the iVork Group on Water Pollution <br />Control which was assig;ned the task of preparing this section of <br />the Arkansas, White, Red River Basins Report. The Public Health <br />Service served as chairman agency of the Work Group. <br /> <br />Cooperative State-Federal sub-basin reports on water <br />pollution fUrnished the majority of basic data contained herein. <br />These were prepared by the Public Health Servioe in cooperation <br />with the State water pollution control agencies, State health <br />departmeubs, and other State agencies. Basic data on sources of <br />municipal and industrial pollution were taken largely from the <br />Inventory of Municipal and Industrial Waste Treatment Facilities <br />in the United States (1953) published by the Public Health Service. <br />Data contained in the Inventory were obtained from State water <br />pollution control agencies. <br /> <br />Federal agency reports and files from which extensive <br />data were obtained include: Department of the Interior, includ- <br />ing Geological Survey, Bureau of Nines, and Fish arrl Wildlife <br />Service; Corps of Engineers; and Department of Agriculture. <br /> <br />v <br />
