Administration, these cooperative studies and activities arc as'
signed to the Engineering Committee of the AdministratIon.

(b) During the year covered by this report, th~ Administration has
received excellent cooperation from all agencies referred to in
the foregoing provisions of the Compact. The Corps of En'
gineers has continued to operate John Martin Reservoir in a":,'
cordance with the provis1ons of the Compact, The L\test capac'
ity table of John M;trtin Reservoir, adopted as of JUJle I, 1955,
provided by th~ Corps of Engineers as it result of its resurwy
of the sediment contents of the reservoir by sonic methods in
1957, has ocen in use since that time, but a complete analysis
and report of this resurvey and study has not yet been made.
However, it is expected that this analysis and report will be
completed in the near future. The United Statl's, Geological
Survey has continued the operation of the Comp,lCt gClging
stations and the analysC's :md compilation of hydrclogic clat;1
presented in this report and used in the: ;tJmiLlistr, ltion (If th(
Compact, To .Issist th,lt ;lg(,I1(~: in ddnying thc costs of opel"
ating tht' CC1mpilLt gilging stations. for reh;lhilitrltifln (If g:lg-in~
::-t;ltWllS, ~lI1d paforming Llthc:r hydrulogic \../urk reqUlreu in thl~
.ldmll1istr;\tion uf the Cumpitct, the Administr, ltlon cl1tereJ into
il cooper.ttive J.j;recmcnt with th~' Gt~()(ogic;tl Survey for tho:
fisGtI YCClr ending June 30, 1960. The Geological Survey has also made improvements tn
some of the other Compact gaging stations during the currcnt
year. The bubbler recording gage installed in 1958 by the
Geological Survey at thc gaging SLttion on the Arkansas River
at LilS Animas above the resavoir, has proved to he advillu;t-
geous at this station because of its insurance of obtaining a con-
tinuous gage height recnrJ, especi;tlly at times when the intake
pipe of the convcntion;d type of recorda structure formerly in
use would have been covered by mud and silt, thus preventing
the recflrJing of actu;d \V;ltcr stages in the river.

7. This was the
largest holduver storage since the reservoir was placed in operatiun in

9
