Or' ""..-e
't...l>~;)

.

B. Alternative B - Sell the Setchfield property and credit Federal Aid with
the money. If this occurs and the hunting and fishing rights are not
retained on the Setchfield property, there will be a loss of recreational
opportunity. The agricultural use of the land would be the same as in
Alternative A. There would be no lands to replace the Setchfield property
and evnironmental and recreational values of the replacement land would
not exist.

C. Alternative C - Exchange the property for other lands. If this alter-
native was accepted another assessment would be written when the other
lands had been selected.

D. Alternative D - Reconstruct Setchfield Dam. This alternative would create
a lake similar to the one prior to the break in the dam. Use of the pro-
perty would again become recreational when a new sport fishery was estab-
lished. Although there are benefits, the cost of the project makes it
imp ractical.

E. Alternative E - No action. No environmental changes would occur unless
the exchange of use agreement was cancelled. If this occurred the Purga-
toire land would not be available to the public and use of the land for
agricultural purposes would increase.

V. Irreversible or Irretrievable Corrmitment of Resources

Unavoidable Adverse Impacts - There are no irreversible or irretrievable com-
mitments of the resource in conjunction with the trade. The adverse impact of
inc reased litter, stress on wildlife, and vandalism already occurs because of
the use exchange agreement now in effect.

VI. Relationships Between Short Term and Long Term Productivity

The short term and long term uses are the same. The hunting and fishirw;)
access clause in the Setchfield property disposal will allow the public to use
the land in a manner similar to the way it is used now. The use of the land
for grazing purposes will not change the physical characteristics of the pro-
perty. Acquisition of the Purgatoire property and the shooting range will
maintain or improve the existing environment.
