The reduced flows in 1988
and 1989 have resulted in an increase in salinity
concentrations in the major reservoirs.

Historical Uses

Estimated histor ical Lower Basin mainstream and Upper
Basin uses for calendar years 1973 through 1988 are shown in
Table 2.

Salinity Concentration at Monitoring Stations

Salinity concentrations for the years 1973-1988 at the
three stations at which numeric criteria have been set below
Hoover Dam, below Parker Dam and at Imperial Dam, are shown
in Table 3. These concentrations are all less than the
numeric criteria.

TABLE 3
.FLOW-WEIGHTED AVERAGE ANNUAL SALINITY CONCENTRATIONS
AT SELECTED STATIONS
(Total Dissolved Solids in mg/l*)
Below Hoover Below Parker At Imperial
Calendar Year Dam ,Dam Dam
NUlBeric Criteria 723 747 879
1973 675 709 843
1974 681 702 834
1975 680 702 829
1976 674 690 822
1977 665 687 819
1978 678 688 812
1979 688 701 802
1980 691 711 760
1981 681 716 821
1982 680 713 826
1983 658 678 727
1984 597 611 675
1985 556 561 615
1986 517 535 577
1987 517** 538** 613**
1988 537** 559** 655**

*Determined cooperatively by the U.S. Geological Survey
(USGS) and Reclamation.
