The upper basin is

east of the Hogback Monocline, the lower basin lies west of the Hogback. The

reaches were idencified as:

1. San Juan River from Archuleta, NM to Farmington, NM. This upper basin reach
consiscs of non-reservation land.

2. Animas River from the state line to Farmington. This upper basin reach
consists of non-reservation land.

3. La Plata River from che state line to the San Juan River. This upper basin
reach consists of non-reservation land.

4. San Juan River from Farmington to Shiprock, NM. This reach lies in the upper

and lower basins and consists of reservacion land and non-reservation land.

5. San Juan River from Shiprock to Four Corners. This lower basin reach consists
of reservation land.

6. Navajo Agricultural Products Industries (NAPI). This lower basin reach
consists of reservation land.

Reaches 1, 2, 3, and 6, were evaluated as sources of salt loading from irrigated

cropland to the San Juan River. Reaches 1, 2, and 3 consist of non-reservation

cropland which was thoroughly evaluated. In Reach 4, which consists partly of

non-reservation land and partly of reservation land, only the non-reservation

land was evaluaced choroughly. Reach 5, consisting entirely of reservation land,

was not evaluated.

5
