We are aware of the major
salinity reduction benefits achieveable if the measUres outlined by
the Soil Conservation Service <Salinity Verific~tion, Phase I Final
Report for Navajo Nation Unit, July 1993) are effect~. We also seek
to enhance the rural livelihoods of hundreds of Navajo farm families
along the San Juan River, thl-ough the proposed on-farm improvements.

The Navajo Nation is committed to provide such local cost-shares
and in-kind contributions of labor and equipment time as may be
required to realize the San Juan River Navajo Salinity Control
Project. We already have extensive experience working with the ASCS
Agricultural Conservation Program, and are confident of our ability to
meet comparable cost-share requirements for the Salinity Control
Project.

Please do not tlesitate to contact me if I can provide any
further information.
