Environmental Protect:l.on Agency (EPA). has reviewed <br />the Final Environmental Impact Statement (Pinal SI5) for . <br />Operation of Glen Canyon 0_, Arizona. our COllllllents are provided <br />to the National Environmental policy ACt (NEPA), the Council on <br />Enviromnental Q\>&lity's NEPA IIIIplementat10n Regulations at 40 CPR <br />1500-1508, and SPA's authorities under Clean Air Act 5309. <br /> <br />SPA continues to support the preferred alternative, and_ <br />are l1leased that the Final BIB acSdresses the issues ",e raised in <br />our April 11, 1994, comment letter on the Draft EIS. W. had. <br />expressed concerns rega%'d.1ng the impacts of raising the spillway <br />gates a:c.d recomm~Qed that ~lood frequency redUction me.sur.s be <br />evaluated 1n greater detail before an opt.ion __ .elect.d. We <br />are ple.sed that a more detailed analysis of the flood frequency <br />reduction measures will be conducted, in compl:l.ancB w:l.th NEPA, <br />before a decision is mada on thi8 issue. Furthermore, sines the <br />Draft EIS wall released to the public last year, much progress' has <br />been made. among all of the interested parties regarding future <br />research and adaptive IlI&I1llgement. <br /> <br />We applaud the efforts made by all of the agencies, tribes, <br />o:rqani:tation8, and inQ1v:1d.uals involved in the research, scoping, <br />and preparat.ion of th:l.s lIS.
