.,

would be pumped from the Colorado River near State Bridge into the

reservoir. A second pumping plant would pump water into Eagle-Colorado

Reservoir from the Eagle River nesr Wolcott. A third pumping plsnt

would pump water from Esgle-Colorado Reservoir through a tunnel to Vail

Pass Tunnel.

New Safe Yield

The safe annual yield produced

collection system would be 35,000

acre-feet with West Slope storage.

annual yield would be increased to

by the Eagle-Piney/Eagle-Colorado

acre-feet by itself and 144,000

With East Slope storage, the safe

169,000 acre-feet.

Cost of Project
The cspital construction cost of the project, includIng interest
during construction, is estimated to be $1,764 million with West Slope
replacement storage. Capital cost per acre-foot, based on an estimated
safe yield of 144,000 scre-feet, would be $12,300. Annualized capital
cost (using 50 years at 8 percent interest) would be $155.0 million.
Including $11 million for annual operation and maintenance costs, the
annualized cost per acre-foot of safe yield based on an estimated safe
yield of 144,000 acre-feet would be spproximately $1,100. Mitigation
would add approximately $40 to $55 million to the total project cost.

Significant Impacts
If the Eagle-Piney/Eagle-Colorado project were implemented, signi-
ficant Impacts would be expected to water quality, aquatic life, wet-
lands and riparian areas, vegetation, wildlife, threatened and endan-
gered species, visual resources, recreation, and cultural resources.

Water Quality. Adverse impacts to Tenmile Creek water quality

during winter operation would occur. Project-related increases in

phosphorus loading to Dillon Reservoir would increase the eutrophic.a-

25
