S. D. A. <br /> <br />On May 24, 1965, a report entitled "Water and Related <br />Land Resources, Colorado River Basin in colorado", was released. <br />This is a comprehensive report based on a cooperative study of <br />the main stem of the Colorado River by the Colorado Water Conser- <br />vation Board and the United states Department of Agriculture. <br />Among the subjects covered are present and potential land and <br />water use, water resources, water quality, water rights, water <br />imports and expor'ts, and a water balance summary. A similar <br />report on the Gunnison River Basin was released in 1962. studies <br />are now in progress for proposed reports on the Yampa and ~fuite <br />River Basins, and it is anticipated that similar reports will be <br />made on the Dolores and San Juan Basins. <br /> <br />Special Studies <br /> <br />A preliminary study was made by the Colorado Water Con- <br />servation Board to determine if the proposed Sweetwater Hydro- <br />electric project by the Rocky Mountain Power Company would <br />adversely affect the proposed Yellow Jacket project of the Bureau <br />of Reclamation. AS a result of these studies it was concluded <br />that under the present plans, agreements, and water rights, there <br />would be no adverse effect. More detailed studies may be made <br />at a later date when the Bureau of Reclamation is further advanced <br />on the Yellow Jacket investigation. <br /> <br />Tipton and Kalmbach, Inc. Report <br /> <br />Of particular significance to the pacific Southwest is <br />a report entitled "Water Supplies of the Colorado River" by <br />Tipton and Kalmbach, Inc. <br /> <br />During the latter part of May, 1965, this firm of con- <br />sulting engineers was retained by the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board to make a study of the water supplies available from the <br />Colorado River for use in the Lower Colorado River Basin, and to <br />determine whether such supplies would be available at all times <br />to satisfy uses by the States of Arizona, California, and Nevada <br /> <br />, n.'. <br />
