The Curecanti-Poncha section of the Cure cant i-Midway <br /> <br /> <br />230-kv line is completed, and satisfactory progress is being made on the <br /> <br /> <br />Poncha-Midway section. <br />The power marketing picture continues to show improvement. Since <br /> <br />the last report, firm power placed under contract moved up to 960,000 <br /> <br />kilowatts for the summer season and 710,000 for the winter, compared with <br /> <br />previous figures of 850,000 and 625,000, respectively. Power revenues <br /> <br />have increased steadily and showed a cummulative total of $16,363,577 on <br />August 1, 1966, compared to a little over $13 million in June. The sales <br />of surplus energy ~eTe discontinued during the month of August and will <br /> <br />not be resumed until next spring. Increased sales of firm power plus the <br /> <br />energy required for Hoover deficiencies, coupled with the seasonal drop <br /> <br />in Hoover releases, permit the meeting of downstream needs without the <br /> <br />need to resort to surplus energy sales at Glen Canyon for several months. <br /> <br />As far as the water supply and operating fOTecast in the Colorado <br /> <br />River basin is concerned, there has been little change since our last <br /> <br />report on June 27 and can be summarized briefly as follows: <br /> <br />Actual snowmelt runoff at Lees Ferry for the April-July period <br /> <br /> <br />totaled 4.6 million acre-feet which is larger than our last forecast <br /> <br />of 3.9 million acre-feet on June 1 but considerably less than our first <br /> <br />forecast of 9.3 million acre-feet on January 1. Runoff for this 4-month <br /> <br />period is about 54 percent of normal, but the relatively high runoff last <br />fall and winter will result in a total runoff for the water year ending <br /> <br />on the 30th of this month of about 9.5 million acre-feet or 76 percent <br /> <br />of normal. <br />-'/ Releases <br /> <br />from Lake Powell to meet storage project power loads are <br /> <br />expected to total about 7.5 million acre-feet during this water year, <br /> <br />3 <br />
