<br /><::::'::) <br />o <br />N <br />I~ <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />ACKNOWLEDGMENTS <br /> <br />This report presents a description of a research project (and its results) which was <br />conducted under the auspices of both the Utah Center for Water Resources Research and <br />the Consortium for International Development (CID) over a period of three years. The <br />integrated and cooperative study is being funded in part by the Office of Water Research <br />and Technology, and involves four participating institutions, namely, the Univelsity of <br />Arizona (research at Yuma), the University of California at Davis, Colorado State <br />University at Fort Collins, and Utah State University at Logan. The Consortium project <br />has successfully integrated both professional capabilities at each of the four institutions <br />and the information emanating from the current study, and in addition, has permitted the <br />simultaneous testing of the results over the broad range of climate and soil conditions <br />available across the four study sites. Progress now has reached the point where the <br />research techniques and results are ready to be tested in other areas of the world where the <br />efficient management.of available land and water resources is a matter of vital concern. <br /> <br />Gratitude is expressed to the many graduate students and others who provided <br />valuable assistance during the course of this project. In particular, the authors are <br />appreciative of the continuing efforts of the regional technical advisory committee to the <br />project, consisting of Messrs, Carl Slingerland, New Mexico; Larry Morrill.
