<br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />,. <br /> <br />The foll owi ng report addresses i rri ga ti on wa ter requi rements and <br />some water conservation methods associated with the Bureau of <br />Reclamation's project lands within the Republican River Basin. <br /> <br />The first part of the paper describes the assumptions, methodology, <br />and climatological parameters involved in developing the theoretical <br />1 rri gation water requi rements. The determi nati on of onfarm i rri ga- <br />tion requirements is an important factor in determining overall use <br />of irrigation water within the basin. Theoretical water requirements <br />were determined using the modified Blaney-Criddle method for the <br />study peri od 1920-1978. These resul ts were cOO1pared with the hi stor- <br />ical irrigation requirements of the project lands within the basin. <br />Losses associated wi th the project conveyance systems are not con- <br />sidered in this report, but will be addressed in a future working <br />paper. <br /> <br />The second part of thi s report addresses some methods of onfarm water <br />conservation, i nc1 udi ng i rrigati on wi th a limited water supply.
