Nine conservation <br />measures were identified by the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board for consideration and <br />implementation. The department of Pubic Works, <br />Durango Water Commission and City Council have been <br />reviewing rhe draft report. In addition, Durango residents, <br />organizations and the members of the public arc invited <br />to comment on the draft Water Conservarion Plan through <br />April 1998. Copies of the draft plan can be obtained ar <br />rhe department of Public Works, located in Durango <br />'River'City Hall at 1235 Camino del Rio. Some of the <br />recommended Water management and conservation <br />measures include warer efficiency in household uses, low <br />warer use landscaping plans, reducing irrigarion warer use <br />with technology and regulatory measures and incentives <br />to reduce water use where appropriare. Following rhe <br />public comment period, a final plan will be recommended <br />by the Durango Water Commission for adoption by the <br />Durango City Council. Some proposed changes <br />include more panels and concurrent sessions, more derailed <br />topics for discussion and featuring a wide variety of expertise <br />and experience in water issues facing Colorado. <br />His<orically, the Colorado Warer Workshop has featured <br />leading warer experts, managers and policy makers <br />presenting on pressing issues facing water users and the <br />general public in Colorado. Some years have focused on <br />water in the state afColorado, some vears on the Colorado <br />River basin and orher years on specitic warer issues, Each <br />summer workshop in Gunnison has served as a point of <br />discussion for water llsers, community members and the <br />general public.
