D.C. <br />April 3, 1984 <br /> <br />Introduction <br /> <br />My name is J. William McDonald. I am testifying today on <br />behalf of Colorado's representatives to the Colorado River Basin <br />Salinity Control Forum: Mr. David H. Getches. Executive Director <br />of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources; Dr. Robert <br />Arnott. Assistant Director of the Colorado Department of Health; <br />and Mr. David Robbins. former Colorado Deputy Attorney General <br />now in private law practice and a current member of the Colorado <br />Water Conservation Board. In my capacity as Director of the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board. ~ am Mr. Getches' alternate to <br />the Forum and one of Colorado's representatives to the Forum's <br />work group. <br /> <br />Summary of Statement <br /> <br />Colorado favors enactment of H.R. 2790, a bill concerninq <br />amendments to the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Act of <br />1974 (P.L. 93-320). The program authorized by Title II of the <br />Act is an integral component of the effort to control the <br />salinity of the Colorado River. It is important that this <br />program now be updated and expanded to reflect the information <br />and understanding gained since the passage of the Act. <br /> <br />We concur in the detailed testimony presented by the <br /> <br />Colorado River Basin Salinity Control <br />amendments to H.R. 2790 referenced in <br />Those amendments have been worked out <br />basin states over the past few months <br />concerns raised by the Administration <br /> <br />Forum and in the proposed <br />the Forum's testimony. <br />by the seven Colorado River <br />and are responsive to <br />and others. <br /> <br />198 <br />t!2790 <br />
