<br />~ <br />~'1 <br /> <br />Dolores Water Conservancy District - A draft repayment contract <br /> <br />between the District and the Department of the Interior was approved <br /> <br />on October 21, 1976. This proposed repayment contract has been <br /> <br />reviewed by the Commissioner's staff and returned to the Regional <br /> <br />Director with suggested changes and inclusions. These changes have <br /> <br />. <br />been incorporated, reviewed by District officials, and will be <br /> <br />officially approved as to form prior to April 1, 1977. Following <br /> <br />the filing of the final EIS with CEQ for a period of 30 days the <br /> <br />proposed repayment contract will be returned to the Commissioner's <br /> <br />office for submittal. to the Secretary of the Interior for approval, <br /> <br />Following Secretarial approval the contract will be executed by <br /> <br />District officials and the Regional Director, This could be <br /> <br />accomplished prior to May 1, 1977, provided that National Enviro- <br /> <br />nmental Policy Act compliance has been met. <br /> <br />Terms of the proposed repayment contract were approved on February 8, <br /> <br />1977, by a general election of the Conservancy District residents, <br /> <br />This election substantiated the overwhelming local support for the <br /> <br />Dolores Project by approving the contract by a 20 to 1 margin, <br /> <br />Cortez, Colorado - Approval of the City Council to petition District <br /> <br />officials for the sale of 6,200 acre-feet of municipal water has <br /> <br />been completed, An ordinance to approve such a petition is presently <br /> <br />being prepared. A formal petition will be completed as soon as the <br /> <br />contract between the District and the l]nited States has been <br /> <br />signed and approved. <br /> <br />Dove Creek, Colorado - Same as Cortez, except that the purchase of <br /> <br />water would be 600 acre-feet. <br />
