<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~.~~CrJ <br />.....lv- <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />To: Files <br /> <br />Subject: Public Hearings Held at Aspen, Colorado, on May 29, 1974, <br />and at Pueblo, Colorado, on May 31, 1974, on the Fryingpan- <br />Arkansas Project, Colorado~ Draft Environmental Statement <br /> <br />A Department of the Interior Administrative Law Judge conducted the <br />formal public hearings on the Draft Environmental Statement for the <br />Fryingpan-Arkansas Project, Colorado, at the request of the Bureau <br />of Reclamation. <br /> <br />The notice of the public hearings was published in the Federal Register <br />on Tuesday, April 23, 1974, and announced to the public by the Department <br />of the Interior news release of April 18, 1974. The news release was <br />sent to 48 newspapers, 22 radio and television stations in the State <br />of Colorado, and both the Associated Press and UPI News Service in <br />Denver, Colorado. Copies of the draft environmental statement were <br />made available for public inspection at 27 libraries throughout the <br />construction and service area of the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project five <br />weeks prior to the date of the public hearingso <br /> <br />The public hearing at Aspen, Colorado, was attended by 84 people, of <br />which 24 presented oral statements. Nine individuals submitted written <br />statements for inclusion in the Hearings Record. <br /> <br />The public hearing at Pueblo, Colorado, was attended by 19 people, of <br />which eight presented oral statements. Two individuals submitted written <br />statements for inclusion in the Hearings Record. <br /> <br />A digest of the transcript titled "Analysis of Public Hearings," is <br />included in this final environmental statement. The issues raised at <br />the hearings as well as those in written statements have been identified <br />and responded to in this attachment and are discussed in the "Analysis <br />of Public Hearings." <br /> <br />This attachment to the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project, Colorado, Final <br />Environmental Statement is comprised of the following items: Memorandum <br />to Files, Analysis of Public Hearings, and the Attendance List. <br /> <br />XI-424 <br />
