The Operating Principles, Fryingpan-Arkansas Project, are <br />an outgrowth of the contribution of Fish and Wildlife Service and <br />Colorado Division of Wildlife and the Forest Service. These <br />agencies provided the minimum flows criteria for the western slope <br />collection streams, criteria for the operation of Ruedi Reservoir, <br />replacement of 3,000 acre-feet of water for fish preservation on the <br />Roaring Fork River, and other means to assure the protection of fisheries <br />and wildlife. The cooperative agencies continue to study, review and <br />make recommendations regarding protection of the natural resources of <br />the project area. <br /> <br />The Fish and Wildlife Service report on the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project <br />evaluated the fish and wildlife component of the Project and outlined <br />numerous recommendations on the subject. :lany of these have been, <br />and others "ill be, implemented. The proposals include, among other <br />things, the following: permanent pools at Project reservoirs for <br />fishery, Project funds to help finance studies by the Colorado Division <br />of Wildlife and Fish and Wildlife Service, criteria to prevent or <br />minimize stream pollution from Project construction, a combination <br />warm water hatchery and cold water rearing unit capable of providing <br />175,000 man-days of additional fishing annually in Colorado, "ildlife <br />lands at Pueblo Reservoir dedicated to fish and wildlife purposes, <br />and annual operating meetings for review and planning purposes. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />XI-436 <br />
