smaller acreages of vegetables, dry beans, small grains, and
grain sorghum.

In the higher salinity portion east of La Junta, the
principal crops are alfalfa and grain sorghums. Lessor
amounts of small grain and corn ensilage are also being
grown. Dry beans, vegetables, and other salt sensitive
crops are generally avoided. In the valley, there is a
livestock industry that uses much of the crops grown in the
area.
