Also included in the <br />Board folder is a listing of the individuals that have been appointed to the AMWG by the Secretary <br />of the Interior Bruce Babbitt. <br /> <br />WATER QUALITY <br /> <br />Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Pro!!ram <br /> <br />Last month we discussed President Clinton's budget and the funding he had proposed for <br />the salinity control program. Included in the,Board folder is Memorandum 98-8 from Mr. Jack <br />Barnett of the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Forum (Forum) listing the deadlines for <br />providing testimony to the various subcommittees in Congress. Attached to his memorandum is the <br />funding levels recommended by the Forum for each federal agency. Also included in the Board <br />folder is draft testimony, Memorandum 98-15 and 98-16, prepared by Mr. Barnett concerning the <br />budgets for Reclamation and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. You can use these to extract <br />information in preparing your comments, <br /> <br />I have already forwarded our comments to Mr. Ralph Regula, Chairman of Subcommittee <br />on the Interior, House Appropriation Committee concerning the Bureau of Land Management's <br />appropriations. Comments or testimony regarding Reclamation's funding level is due this Friday, <br />March 13th. 1 have included a copy of the Board's letter to Chairman Pete Domenici concerning <br />Reclamation's budget. Also in your Board folder is a draft letter prepared by stafffor Governor <br />Wilson's signature encouraging the Secretary of the U. S. Department of Agriculture to support the <br />Forum's $12 million request in EQIP funds for salinity control measures and the designation of the <br />Colorado River Basin as a national priority area for salinity control under EQIP. <br /> <br />Finally, in the Board folder is a News Release from Reclamation announcing its third round <br />of Request for Proposals (RFP) to seek innovative ideas from the public for implementing salinity <br />control measures.
