It is expected that the dam embankment construction will
be completed by October, 1965.

On January 14 a $110,000 contract was awarded to Humphrey
Contracting Corporation of Wichita, Kansas, for clearing the Blue
Mesa Reservoir area.

About 17 percent of the work has been completed on Mor-
row Point Dam of the CURECANTI UNIT. The contractor is continuing
work on open cut excavation for the powerplant, the keyways and
the tunnel portals. Crews are in the process of installing a large
concrete batchplant for the 400,000 cubic yards of concrete that
will be placed in the 455-foot structure. Placing of concrete is
expected to begin in July. A great deal of rock bolting has been
required above the open cut areas.

At Crystal damsite of the CURECANTI UNIT, all core drill-
ing and borrow pit exploration has been completed by the Bureau of
Reclamation. Invitations to bid on the first contract for work
are scheduled for issuance in the near future. This contract will
be for construction of the difficult access road to the damsite.

At Rifle Gap Dam, principal feature of the SILT PROJECT,
the open cut excavation at the upstream portal of the outlet works
tunnel site is complete. Bids were opened on January 19 for cons-
truction of the a-mile-long Silt Pump Canal which will convey ir-
rigation water to lands on the lower portion of Harvey Mesa.

Feasibility Investigations and Reports

On the Dallas Creek project, the feasibility report is
in progress and is scheduled to be completed prior to July 1, 1965.
