Mechem <br />Governor of the State of New Mexico <br />Santa Fe, New Mexico <br /> <br />His Excellency, Price Daniel <br />Governor of the State of Texas <br />Austin, Texas <br /> <br />Sirs: <br /> <br />The 22nd Annual Meeting of the Rio Grande Compact Commission was held in <br />Santa Fe, New Mexico, on February 16, 1961. <br /> <br />The Commission reviewed the reports of the Secretary relative to stream flow <br />at Compact gaging stations and storage in reservoirs. The Commission found that: <br /> <br />(a) The actual delivery of water by Colorado at Lobatos in1960 was 201,000 <br />acre-feet, which was 59,100 acre-feet less than the scheduled delivery. <br />The accrued debit of Colorado was 571,700 acre-feet as of December 3l, 1960. <br /> <br />(b) The actual delivery of water by New Mexico, measured by the Elephant Butte <br />Effective Supply, was 520,000 acre-feet in 1960 which was 49,800 acre-feet <br />more than the scheduled delivery. The accrued debit of New Mexico was <br />448,100 acre-feet as of December 31, 1960. <br /> <br />(c) Releases of usable water from project storage amounted to 706,400 acre-feet <br />in 1960, which was 83,600 acre-feet less than the normal release defined <br />by the Compact. The accrued departure from normal releases was an under- <br />release of 1,499,100 acre-feet as of December 31, 1960. The total quantity <br />of water in project storage was 456,000 acre-feet on that date. <br /> <br />Expenses of administration of the Rio Grande Compact were $29,310 during the <br />fiscal year ending June 30, 1960; of which $13,170 were borne by the United States <br />and the balance of $16,140 was borne equally by the three states party to the Compact. <br /> <br />Respectfully, <br /> <br /> <br />L..,:JO 'C:~ <br /> <br />Commissioner for Texas <br /> <br />, <br />, <br />......J <br />
