<br />001373 <br /> <br />GLOSSARY OF WATER MANAGEMENT TERMS <br /> <br />JETTY--On open seacoasts, a structure extending into a body of water, and <br />designed to prevent shoaling of a channel by littoral materials and to <br />direct and confine the stream or tidal flow. <br /> <br />JOINT COSTS--Costs of facilities that serve more than one project purpose. <br /> <br />JOINT USE CAPACITY--That reservoir capacity (flood control and active <br />conservation) which has been assigned to flood control purposes dur- <br />ing certllin periods of the year and to conservation purposes during <br />other peTiods of the year. <br /> <br />JOINT USE FACILITIES--The features of a project 11Sed in cOllllJ1on for more <br />than one project purpose, such as the dam in a multiple-plU'Pose <br />reservoir. <br /> <br />JUSTIFICATION--The analysis of the costs and benefits of a project or <br />program to determine whether or not the project or program should be, <br />consUllllllated. <br /> <br />l-JK <br /> <br />i. <br /> <br />
