<br />. , <br />----J <br /> <br />.J <br /> <br />4 <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 1951 the Gunnison Watershed Conservation <br />Committee passed a Resolution in support of the construction <br />of a Curecanti Dam and Reservoir with a high water level of <br />approximately 7,520 feet above sea level, affording total <br />storage capacity in the neighborhood of 940,000 acre-feet; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it has been the desire of the members of this <br />Committee to ascertain the present attitude of the residents <br />of the upper Gunnison Watershed area on the question of the <br />constru.ction of a larger Curecanti Reservoir with a storage <br />capacity of approximately 2,500,000 acre-feet, and in order <br />to asce,rtain the present attitude of the people, a number of <br />meetin<;rs have been held at various points in the area, and <br />the opinion of various active representative organizations <br />has beem sought and obtained, and as a result of sucl- meet- <br />ings, it appears that the people of the area are overwhelm- <br />ingly c.gainst the erect ion of the larger Cure cant i Dam. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Gunnison Watershed <br />Conservation Committee reaffirms its commitment not to oppose <br />the smaller dam and reservoir of not to exceed 940,000 acre- <br />feet cClpacity, but is unalterably opposed to the construction <br />of a dam and reservoir at or near Curecanti in excess of that <br />capacity. <br /> <br />The above Resolution was duly adopted at a meeting of the <br />Gunnison Watershed Conservation Committee held at Gunnison, <br />Colorado on April 22, 1954. <br /> <br />/s/ Guy J. At a meeting of the Colorado Water Conservation Board <br /> <br />held February 4, 1955, the following motion was made by <br /> <br />Mr. Moses: "I move that we approve the Curecanti Unit as <br />revised as an initial project." The motion was seconded by <br /> <br />Mr. Dille and unanimously carried. <br />
