<br />The Palo Verde Irrigation District provided information on water <br />tables and water quality as well as valuable insights into the opera- <br />tion of its water distribution systems. <br />The services of Bookman-Edmonston Engineering, Inc., of Glendale, <br />California were used to compile information on irrigation and drainage <br />in the District, to estimate irrigation efficiencies, and to make a <br />preliminary analysis of the effectiveness of water system improvements <br />to reduce salt discharge to the river. <br />The U.S. Salinity Laboratory at Riverside, California investi- <br />gated the possibility of calcium carbonate precipitation in the <br />Colorado River and beneath irrigated lands, and advised on soil <br />chemistry and salt balance relationships. <br />The U. S. Geo 1 ogi ca 1 Survey has previ ous ly made studi es of the <br />geohydrology of the Colorado River Valley, and those studies provided <br />the foundation for much of the analysis in this report. <br /> <br />002843 <br /> <br />5 <br />
