The Palo Verde Irrigation District provided information on water
tables and water quality as well as valuable insights into the opera-
tion of its water distribution systems.
The services of Bookman-Edmonston Engineering, Inc., of Glendale,
California were used to compile information on irrigation and drainage
in the District, to estimate irrigation efficiencies, and to make a
preliminary analysis of the effectiveness of water system improvements
to reduce salt discharge to the river.
The U.S. Salinity Laboratory at Riverside, California investi-
gated the possibility of calcium carbonate precipitation in the
Colorado River and beneath irrigated lands, and advised on soil
chemistry and salt balance relationships.
The U. S. Geo 1 ogi ca 1 Survey has previ ous ly made studi es of the
geohydrology of the Colorado River Valley, and those studies provided
the foundation for much of the analysis in this report.

002843

5
