0.., f"'" Q()
;..V",:O

Introduction

The Board of Water Commissioners of the City and County
of Denver on 18 January 1956 commissioned the firm of Tipton
and Kalmbach, Inc" to make a study of the Board's then de-
creed raw water supplies and its system of raw water diversion
and storage facilities that will be available after the present con-
struction program is completed, and to make recommendations
of the best manner af operating the works in order to make the
most efficient and economic use of the Board's water supplies,

To place this study in the proper perspective it should be
noted that the engineering firm of Alvord, Burdick & Howson is
making an over-all study of the Denver water system including
its filtration, pumping, and distribution features. The scope of
this report is limited to raw water supplies and raw water facili-
ties. Other reports and memoranda covering the study of Den-
ver's raw water facilities and supplies available to them were
prepared for the Board by Tipton and Kalmbach, Inc" and form
a part of the background for this report, Among these are the
following:

1. Letter report on amount of Blue River Water available
to Denver under the Decree of October 1955-December
12,1955.

2. Report on Williams Fork Replacement Reservoir-De-
cember 1955,

3. Letter report on alternative routes and works required
far bringing Williams Fork water into the Denver Sys-
tem-March 23, 1956.

4. Engineering Report on the Harold D, Roberts Tunnel-
April 1956.

5. Engineering Report on the Completion of Williams Fork
Dam and Appurtenant Features-November 1956.

6, Engineering Report on Dillon Reservoir-June 1957,
