The Water Information Program (WIP) has added Becca Conrad-Whitehead as the pro- gram coordinator for WIP related activities, including the Press Clipping Swnmaries. Becca has experience in graphics, art marketing and commercial art. She is being trained on the computer systems at the Southwestern Water Conservation DiStricll"' . (SWCD) offices, where the Water Information Program office is located. Conrad-Whitehead will be working closely with Four Comers Management Sys- ,- , W tems, the firm that is assisting the SWCD district with the Water Information Program. . Becca has stepped into the part time position of handling the newspaper article review, clipping and ~~. swnmarization ofwaterrelated issues that is completed on a regular basis from local and regional newspa- per coverage. Water Information Program goes "on the road" The Southwestern Water Conservation District (SWCD) has purchased a professional display unit, that the Water Informa- tion Program has developed for water presentations to kids, adults and the general public. The Water Information Pro- gram (WIP) has participated in several water fairs for kids, informational presentations and water conferences in 1996 and plans for 1997. WIP display appearances in 1996 appearances included SWCD sponsored "WaterFest" for kids, the Dolores Water Conservancy District (DWCD) sponsored "WaterFest" for kids, the San Juan Water Commission (SJWC) sponsored "H2O Water Fair" for kids, the SWCD "Water Seminar", the 41st annual New Mexico Water Conference, hosted by the SJWC in Farmington, NM and a tour of duty at several banks in the Cortez, CO area. In the coming year of 1997, you can see the WIP display unit at the annual meeting of the Colorado Water Congress, public places in the Durango and Farmington areas, the Water Fests and Water Fairs sponsored by the DWCD, SWCD and SJWC water boards and other sites yet to be determined. The purpose of the display is to assist in communicating information about water, conservation, stor- age and delivery to the general public, including photos, maps, brochures and information on various water topics. Expanded WIP Web Site The Water Information Program has recently completed the expansion of their web site to include new graphics, ad- ditional information on water and update links to water re- lated sites around the US and the world. Originally available on-line in September 1995, the Water Information Program web site has expanded over the past 15 months to include information on water in southwest Colorado and northwestern New Mexico. In the Water In- formation Program web site there is information on water conservation, water terms and defInitions, information on local and regional reservoirs, an updated US Bureau ofRec- lamation (USBR) reservoir statistics, and a "cool links" sec- tion. The "cool links" section contains numerous water related web sites in the United States and beyond, all with a direct "clickable" link from the Water Information Program web site. Just click on the site of interest and you'll be directly transferred to that water related sites. The expanded web site was designed and produced by Creative Links Multi- media, a Durango based company that specializes in web site "home page" development, and has developed the suc- cessful "Durango Downtown" web site.
