Specific actions
include monitoring of movements, reduction of mortality, restriction of detrimental human
activities (removal of threats), and protection and enhancement of habitat.

· Increase captive populations. A general assessment of the quality of riverine roosting
habitat (in relation to flow) would be available from the updated whooping crane roost model,
when it is completed. Updated river profiles may be needed to support use of this model as a
means of assessing habitat quality.

The locations and size ofbonomland grasslands and marshes will be available from the BOR
. GIS database and would provide an adequate baseline for assessing future changes. However,
the database may not be able to distinguish some features that may be relevant to whooping crane
use, such as distinguishing wet meadows from other bottomland grasslands.

fIlS a.iJer WotttJwanI t:IJr/e
FtIfIeIiII",~r

_,~I._ 6I2I1-""",lIURSGWCl'S12 3-11
