<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />measure of losses is considerably more comprehensive regionally than <br />the farm income losses measured by Sun, although the measure may over- <br />state losses from a national viewpoint since some linked activities <br />W might move to other regions. <br />~ <br />~ The most geographically comprehensive and analytically detail- <br />-J ed study of Lower Basin agricultural losses is that of Kleinman and <br />Brown. 6 Their study was based on the loss data developed by Jackson <br />and Robinson for Arizona and California respectively.7 Detailed linear <br />programming models akin to those of Sun and utilizing similar con- <br />straints were used for eight major subregions: the Central Arizona <br />Project service area, the Yuma County service area, and the Colorado <br />River Indian Reservation in Arizona; and Imperial Irrigation District, <br />Coachella Valley County Water District, Palo Verde Irrigation District, <br />the Reservation Division of the Yuma Project, and the San Diego Coastal <br />Region in California. <br /> <br />An added refinement of the Kleinman-Brown analysis was to dif- <br />ferentiate among the salinity levels at the different diversion points <br />along the Lower Colorado River, rather than simply using the projected <br />concentration at Imperial Dam.
