<

-

n!)O"?R
DRAFT 08/13/97

1

Arkansas River Basin
Status of Group 1 Streams

This paper gives the status of the Group 1 streams in Water Division No.2.
They originally numbered 44, The technical team dropped 3, but added 2 by
moving Qpe upstream, so the Group 1 streams now total 43.
@
The QPs have been grouped into those needing both low and high flow (16), those
needing low flow only (27), and those that were dropped (3), Of those needing
both low and high flow, USFS must ascertain the status of greenback cutthroat
trout on two (21C West Fork West Beaver Creek, 87D Adobe Creek) to decide if
the QPs will be pursued or dropped; we assume for now they will be pursued, but
the Forest must ascertain the status promptly! Of those needing low flow only,
CDOW must review three (63A Big Union Creek, 651 North Fork Lake Creek, 89E St.
Charles River) to validate the flow amount,

The streams with an asterisk (0) at the end still need more work by USFS, Of
the 16 QPs needing both low and high flow, 12 need high flow to be analyzed and
computed; 3 of these also need low flow to be measured. Of the 26 QPs needing
low flow only, 3 need low flow to be measured. Low flow must be measured in
Sept 97, probably by Jay Skinner (CDOW) and Dave Park (USFS),
U-h,Je.tneJ = Ne-..Js {... beJon~
Low and Hiqh Flows

r

I-~Jv
Catamount Creek: Greenback cutthroat trout.
