RIPRAP Relationships Green River MainstemclA.I.a. (Provide and protect instream flows--
habitat management; Green River above Duchesne River; initially identify year-round flows needed
for recovery while providing experimental flows; summer/fall), lA.1. c. (Provide and protect
in stream flows--habitat management; Green River above Duchesne River; initially identify year-
round flows needed for recovery while providing experimental flows; summer/fall; review
summer/fall flow recommendations), .lA.3.a. (Provide and protect instream flows--habitat
management; Green River above Duchesne River; deliver identified flows; operate Flaming Gorge .
pursuant to the Biological Opinion to provide summer and fall flows), LA.3.c. (Provide and protect
instream flows--habitat management; Green River above Duchesne River; deliver identified flows;
operate Flaming Gorge Dam to provide winter and spring flows and revised summer/fall flows, if
necessary), lB.I. (Provide and protect instream flows--habitat management; Green River below the
Duchesne River; initially identify year-round flows needed for recovery while providing
experimental flows), lB.2.a (Provide and protect instream flows--habitat management; Green River
below the Duchesne River; initially identify year-round flows needed for recovery while providing
experimental flows; review scientific basis), IlA.l.a.4. (Restore habitat--habitat development and
maintenance; Old Charlie Wash; monitor and evaluate success), IlC.i. (Restore habitat~-habitat
development and maintenance; enhance water temperatures to benefit endangered fishes; identify
options to release wanner water from Flaming Gorge Reservoir to restore native fish habitat in the
Green River), V.A.l. (Monitor populations and habitat and conduct research to support recovery
actions--research, monitoring, and data management; verify additional Colorado squawfish
spawning areas in lower Green).

Green River, YampaILittle Snake RiversclB.I. (Provide and protect instream flows--habitat
management; Yampa River below Little Snake River; initially identify year-round flows needed for
recovery), lB.2.a. (Provide and protect instream flows--habitat management; Yampa River below
Little Snake River; state acceptance of initial flow recommendations; review scientific basis).

Colorado RiverClB., lC., lD.

III. Study Goals, Objectives, and End Product:

Goal - Data from this study will be used as part of an annual assessment of reproduction and
recruitment of Colorado squawfish (and other fishes) so that various hypotheses regarding the affects
of operation of Flaming Gorge Dam and the Aspinall units can be evaluated. Infonnation will
facilitate assessment of relationships between relative reproductive success and annual flow regimes
(specifically flow releases from Flaming Gorge Dam) and provide a relative measure ofinput offish
larvae into downstream nursery habitats.

Objectives --

1.) To document timing and duration of spawning by Colorado squawfish (and other fishes) as
measured by capture of drifting larvae.

2.) To determine peaks in abundance of transported Colorado squawfish larvae during the

2
