Sub tasks include:

a. Define geographic area of the population by using existing data,
sampling Cross Mountain area (historically contained humpback chub,
but has not been sampled in recent years), and sampling RM 9-41 on
each of three trips through Yampa Canyon.

b. Estimate probabilities of capture using trammel nets, hoop nets,
electrofishing, and angling by fishing during spawning and post-
spawning, day and night.
1) Mark all humpback chubs >150 mm TL with PIT tags.
2) Check all humpback chubs> 150 mm TL with PIT tag scanner.
3) Record catch and amount of effort for each sampling method.

Design a capture/recapture sampling protocol that will estimate size of the
humpback chub population in the Yampa River; discuss possible
assumption violations, precision, and compare with catch per unit effort.

VIII.
