I. Title of Proposal:

Cooperative Agreement for Conducting Research and Laboratory Services
at Colorado State University, Larval Fish Laboratory-Collection
Processing (Identification, Counts, and Measures) and Curation
(Cataloging, Maintenance, and Management).

II. Relationship to RIPRAp:

These services are related to General Recovery Program Support Action
Plan V- "Monitor populations and habitat and conduct research to
support recovery actions, research, monitoringt and data managementlf.
More specifically, the collection curation portion of these services
relate to V.A.2-"Conduct interagency data management program to
compile, manage, and maintain all research and monitoring data
collected by the Recovery Program." (Preserved specimens are the
ultimate natural history database.) Also, at the Biology Committee
Meeting in February 1996 to consider FY-97 program guidance. and
revisions to RIPRAp, the committee considered and approved a proposal
to add the following task, perhaps as V.A.3-"Provide for long-term
care, cataloging, and accessibility of preserved collections as voucher
for Recovery Implementation Program research and as a resource for
additional biological and natural history information." However, the
committee failed to have that revision incorporated in the March 1996
RIPRAp.
