<br />I <br />I <br /> <br />ADDENDUM <br /> <br />At the conclusion of its first fifty years (1987), the Colorado <br />River District maintained an interest in a number of water pre>- <br />jects and studies expressly for the benefit of Western Colorado. <br />such as: <br /> <br />...WEST DIVIDE (near Rifle in Garfield County) - one of the five <br />participating projects of the Colorado River Storage Project Act <br />of 1968...River District owns the decrees...most recently par- <br />ticipated in the funding of reconfiguration studies...work closely <br />with the West Divide Water Conservancy District in maintaining <br />the proposed project that was to have been built concurrently <br />with the Central Arizona Project. <br /> <br />...UNA (on the Colorado River at the mouth of the canyon below <br />Debeque) District holds both power and storage <br />decrees...could be important to long range plans for Western Col- <br />orado...possible joint-use reservoir. <br /> <br />r <br />! <br /> <br />...INDIAN CREEKIBLACK LAKES (Eagle County) - Small <br />storage reservoirs needed in the upper reaches of the Eagle <br />River to provide municipal and industrial water...contributed <br />funds to preliminary studies. <br /> <br />...KOBE PIPELINE (near DeBeque) - District deeded 1.7 d.s. of <br />its valuable 1936 Kobe decree to DeBeque for a domestic water <br />supply, funded part of the water system, and loaned money ~o <br />Parachute towards their portion of the project, an irrig~n <br />system. ( '~ <br />~. <br />...GUNNISON STUDY (Gunnison Valleyl - Joint applicant with <br />Upper Gunnison WCD to Colorado Water Resources and Power <br />Development Authority for a study of water supply options in the <br />basin. <br /> <br />...ROCK CREEK or MUDDY CREEK (Grand County) - One or <br />the other reservoir to be built by the District and available for <br />West Slope water users...Denver signing a 25-year lease for <br />water to meet their short term needs will help finance future <br />West Slope projects...site selection to follow final EIS. <br /> <br />...GRAND MESA (Delta County) - Assisted the Conservancy <br />District by providing legal and technical services on a project <br />feasibility study...cooperated with the Bureau of Reclamation in <br />financing ground water studies. <br /> <br />...ELKHEAD (Moffat County near Craig) - Committed to half <br />the cost of a $20.500 feasibility study with the State Water Board <br />to analyze the potential and costs of increasing storage by in- <br />creasing the height of the dam...lobbied the legislature to provide <br />a portion of the cost of the study...would bolster Craig's water <br />supply. <br /> <br />...FRUITLAND MESA (GunnisonlMontroselDeltal - Once a <br />Bureau project...District contributed to a 1983 reconfiguration <br />study. <br /> <br />There are still other potential projects scattered around the <br />...RANCHIFRASER (Grand County) - The District, with others, District like: Iron Mountain. Azure, Yeoman Park. Battlement <br />has joined with the Colorado Water Resources and Power Mesa. Wolford Mountain, Wolcott, Sa very Pothook, Yellojacket, <br />Development Authority in funding a two year water supply study Juniper-Cross Mountain. The Colorado River District works <br />in the Fraser River Valley, highly impacted for years by trans- diligently at keeping them all alive since some will. one day, serve <br />mountain diversions. to put water to beneficial use. <br />18 <br />
