151'1

through July Ruedi Reservoir inflow as well as projected project imports for
Turquoise Lake will be started on February and continue on the first of .
each succeeding month through May 1.

The contract with the District requires notification be given to the
District by April 15 of the quantity of water available for their use
through April 3D, 1985,

B. Ruedi Reservoir

Rued i Reservoi r will be operate~ in water year 1984 to control
spring runoff, provide maximum storage for use by recreational interests,
enhance fish and wildlife and make, on demand, releases of contracted water.
This is an interim plan until a long term market is developed for all the
available stored water. Short term sales may be made on a year-to-year
basis as the need develops for water.

1 . I nfl ow

Under most probable conditiqns, the inflow will be 109,400

acre-feet.

2. Minimum Release

The mlnlmUm release requirements, as described in the
operating principles, are 39 ft3/s from November I through April 30 and 110
ft3/s from May 1 through October 31 or native inflow, whichever is less.
These flows include water from Rocky Fork,

.

3. Reservoir Operations

The planned releases from Ruedi Reservoir for October through
December would be approximately 150 ft3/s, Releases from January through
April would be set at a flow which would draw the reservoir down to an ele-
vation of 7706.0 feet, However, based upon the type of runoff season indi-
cated by monthly snowpack data, the outflow from the reservoir and the
target elevation may be adjusted. Monthly estimates of probable inflow
would be made following the February 1 thrqugh May 1 runoff forecasts.

Recreation interests requested that the reservoir water level
not be drawn down below elevation 7706.0 feet (53,100 acre-feet), which is
2.0 feet above the bottom of the Forest Service boat ramp. This request
will be honored until additional long term contracts are developed for the
sale of the remaining storage water.

The operating plan indicates that the rese~voir will be filled by about July
5, thus providing recreational benefits du~ing the summer months, as well as
sports fishlng on the Fryingpan River below Ruedi Dam during the first part

20

.
