The joint use capacity will be <br />used for the storage of irrigation water and for the accumulation of <br />sediment. The Trinidad Reservoir will store and regulate surplus <br />flows as well as flows accruing to the Model storage right. The use <br />of project water will be limited to 19,717 acres of irrigable land <br />to be served by the 11 existing ditch systems. Exhibit 2 is a <br />schematic diagram showing the general location of the various ditch <br />systems. <br /> <br />Because of erratic and poorly controlled water supplies, the <br />irrigated acreage served by the 11 existing ditches has not been <br />constant from year to year. Land classification studies disclose <br />that about 19,149 acres of land have been irrigated, consistently <br />or intermittently, during the 1955-1959 period.
