The flood <br />control diagram showed that the reservoir could have <br />remained full the remainder of the snowmelt season; <br />therefore, the operation of Blue Mesa did not include <br />releases for flood control (Chart 3) <br /> <br />Some ice jamming and overflow occurred along the <br />Gunnison River above Blue Mesa Reservoir during the <br />winter 1970-71, A clearing and snagging program by <br />the Corps of Engineers which is nearing completion <br />should improve channel flow conditions during freezing <br />weather.
