SAN JUAN RIVER BELOW ANIMAS RIVER 1928-1956 Incl.

A monthly study was made of present and potential water uses
diverting from the San Juan River below the mouth of the Animas
River. The Bureau of Reclamation furnished the committee with a
study of the effects of the Animas-La Plata and Florida projects
on stream flows in the Animas River at Cedar Hill, near the Colo-
rado-New Mexico State line. For the purpose of this analysis, it
was assumed that the same effects would occur at the gage on the
Animas River at Farmington. The remainder at this gage after the
depletions by these projects was considered to be the stream runoff
available for diversions below the gage. In addition, this remainder
was reduced by 5,200 acre feet of diversion demand, distributed
seasonally in accord with assumptions in the Navajo project report,
for the following potential uses on the Animas (contained in Mr;
Reynolds letter):

Ranchito Mutual 3,400 a.f.
Frank Manzori 1,000
Wm. Kottke 500
M. H. Englebreacht 250
5,150 a.f.

The first burden which was placed on the residual flow at the
gage on the Animas at Farmington, was the demand of the Farmers
Mutual ditch, diverting from the Animas below the gage. The flow
remaining is shown in Column 7 of the attached analysis, for the
months of each year of the 1928-1956 period. Minor shortages in
diversion demands of this ditch would occur in a few years of the
period.

t
