The Doloree River to the north <br /> <br />is principally ulled by the Montezuma Valley Irrigation Com- <br /> <br />plInT, e mutuarl company, which irrigates sbout 40,IJOO ecree <br />betwean the town of Oortez, 15 miles northwest 01' Mancos, and <br />the Dolores River about 10 miles north of Cortez. This tro.ct <br /> <br />does not require the full flow of the Dolores 111ver, but it <br />could easily be expended to use ell of it. Expensive works <br />would be nseded to cerry the weter of the Dolores River to <br /> <br />the Mancos Velley. Either of these developmenta would nacea- <br /> <br />e1tete extensive regulat10n of that river. <br /> <br />The La Plate River, the first stream south of the <br /> <br />Mancos, 1s probably not adequate, even with regul~t1on, tor <br /> <br />the total of lends under ditch at present. The An1me.s River, <br /> <br />which 1s next eest from the Le Pluta, 1s the largest tribu- <br /> <br />tory of the Sen JUBll lliver, and consequently very deep in <br />the country.
