Herewith 1s submitted 8 report on the Mancos <br />Project, Colorado, on surveYll and investigation made in <br />1936 and 1937. The Mancos River is the IllOst westerly per- <br />ennial tributary of the SSD Juan River in aouthweatern <br />Colore.do. <br /> <br />2. the investigation of this project, which <br />is one of e. number of similar projects being investigated <br />in I'leatern Colorado, wall financed by an allotment of <br />8150,000 from the 1ublic Worke Administration. The field <br />work was limited to Burveye which would per~t preliminary <br />plene end estimates for the vllriouB felltureB of the proJ- <br />ect. <br /> <br />3. The Mencoe Valley, one of the oldest irriga- <br />ted eBctions in lTeetl1lI'Jl Colorado, having been settled over <br />60 yoers, had many yeBrs /l.go ree.ched the economic lilll1t of <br />BetUement, as fixed by en unreguleted weter supply, end <br />growth hed atopped' In the present investigation it hae <br />bson attempted to indicate the meana of en improved water <br />supply not only for thia long-settled eree, but for BUch <br />lands a~ ere naturelly grouped with the present settle- <br />ment, for by this mean6 the whole areB may have the ad- <br />vantage ot any economy inherent in the maximum development <br />consiatent with the totaL'quentity of water available. <br /> <br />2'2.'1 () <br /> <br />(Sgd.)
