<br />, ....l' - <br />l~v~ <br /> <br />CALIFORNIA'S USE OF <br />COLORADO RIVER WATER <br /> <br />· California's use of Colorado River water has varied <br />from 5.2 maf in 1990 to a projected 4.6 maf in 1992 <br />before accounting for all unmeasured return flows; <br />its basic apportionment is 4.4 maf. <br /> <br />· California recognizes that as the other Basin states <br />develop their apportioned waters and as required <br />by the hydrology of the river and provisions of the <br />"Law of the River',' it must reduce its use of <br />Colorado River water on an annual basis. <br /> <br />· California entities have been and are aggressively <br />pursuing measures to meet their collective <br />Colorado River water needs within California's <br />basic apportionment and its use of available <br />surplus water. <br /> <br />. Both water supply augmentation and demand <br />management measures are being pursued. <br /> <br />· The Districts have implemented water <br />conservation and pricing programs. <br /> <br />· Urban waste water reuse and agricultural <br />drainage and contaminated groundwater <br />recovery programs have been <br />implemented. <br />
