Examples are the <br /> <br />level of upstream depletions of water and the maximum <br /> <br />allowed reservoir storage. <br /> <br />(4) System variables - any variable in the model whose behavior <br /> <br />may be monitored. A complete list is given in Table 5.3. <br /> <br />(5) System response or measures of system performance - the <br /> <br />first and second moments of the system variables indicated <br /> <br />in Table 5.3. The probability distribution of reservoir <br /> <br />discharge, and in particular the probability of failure to <br /> <br />meet target discharge, is also a measure of system per- <br /> <br />formance in this study. <br /> <br />5.4.1 Simulation Inputs <br /> <br />Simulation parameters and system control variables comprise <br /> <br />the simulation inputs and must be specified for each run. These <br /> <br />quantities are listed and briefly defined in Table 5.4. <br /> <br />The values given to the simulation parameters for the simulations <br /> <br />performed in this study are discussed in Sections 6.1 and 6.2. The <br /> <br />values assigned to the system control variables are presented in Section <br /> <br />5.5. <br /> <br />
